Client Testimonials:
On behalf of my husband and I we would like to let you know how much we appreciated your services, expertise, and guidance through the delivery of our first born son. You were such a blessing to us! Our delivery process would not have been as smooth and peaceful if we did not have you there with us! Thank you!
From the very beginning you were available to answer our questions and to teach us what we needed to know regarding the delivery process- pre and post. Your child birth classes were exceptional and we really valued everything we learned in your class. You were always prepared and had update information to assist us in making our birth plan fit to our values and goals. My husband and I felt that we went into the delivery well educated and prepared.
Your presence during the delivery was amazing. It was wonderful to have you there with me throughout the delivery. Your assistance brought peace of mind. My husband valued your instruction in how to make me more comfortable as well as giving him different ways to assist me through the difficult contractions. The tools that you were able to bring to the delivery room were also very helpful to help minimize any pain or discomfort.

I had Danielle Gauss with me at the birth of my son, Easton in January of 2005. She was a huge support and help before I had him, during the labor process and has been a huge help even after having Easton. She is very patient and kind. She is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. Danielle was with me when I went through false labor and then she was with me right as my labor began in the middle of the night. She was cheery and 100% with me the whole time. She made my labor as comfortable as it could be. I would highly recommend Danielle Gauss and would use her services again the next time I have a baby.

My Birth Experience with a Doula
When I first heard the word 'doula' I wasn’t sure what to expect so my husband, Ryan, and I decided to meet with Danielle. She explained to us what she does and had us tell her our expectations of a doula. She was very open and honest and assured us that her role would be to support us not only during the labor but also before and after our daughter’s birth. I told her that I wanted to try to go as long as I could without having an epidural. Danielle assured us that she knew many positions and techniques to help labor progress and get through the contractions. We found it comforting to know that Danielle, a professional labor and delivery support person, would be with us. Little did we know just how much we would need her!
After we decided to use Danielle, I kept in frequent contact with her. She answered my questions with patience and understanding. Danielle taught Ryan and I breathing techniques and showed us some positions to use during early labor. The week of August 17th I started having contractions that would come and go. I called her at least twice a day to update her. By Friday the 20th my labor pains had increased in frequency and strength. At 11:30 p.m. that night, I was in A LOT of pain. I called Danielle to let her know that I was going to the hospital.
Danielle arrived at the hospital 10 minutes after us. It was very comforting to have her there and to help us. I had back labor the whole time so Danielle used a birthing ball and applied pressure to specific areas of my body to help with the contractions and back pain. Danielle’s presence during the labor was very calming and helpful to both Ryan and I. My labor, which had been going very well, suddenly slowed down after I received an epidural at 7 cms. As a result of this, my labor nurse’s shift ended and in walked a new nurse. My new nurse was horrible! Danielle had to basically take over. She moved my body and legs to change positions so the baby could progress down the birth canal. When Ryan and I got very frustrated with the staff she was our mediator and made our wishes known. Ryan and I both firmly believe that without Danielle, I would have had major complications. She coached me as I pushed and reassured me that I could keep going when I felt like I couldn’t continue. When our daughter was born, Danielle was truly joyful with us! Danielle stayed with us for a little while after the birth to make sure that I was alright and then she quietly went home. It was after 6 p.m. and she had been at the hospital since 12:45 a.m.
When we arrived home from the hospital, Danielle came to see us the next day. I was having a difficult time breastfeeding and Danielle recommended products to help ease my pain and she helped my daughter latch on correctly. That first week, I continued to call Danielle daily because breastfeeding was very difficult for me but I was determined to succeed. She kept reassuring me that my baby would be fine and she was right! My baby is now a happy 11 month old!
Using a doula gave Ryan and I time to enjoy the birth process and also gave us the support we needed to have a successful, healthy birth. We recommend Danielle to all of our friends and when we have our second one, she will be there as our doula!
